Smartphones to Watch Out for in 2018

While the new Samsung launch set for the World Mobile Congress in February has dominated much headline space, there is a fantastic field heading into the MWC this year.

While the iPhone X has set the benchmark, the other players in the mobile space have set themselves to topple Apple once again.

The New Google Pixel Devices

With Google purchasing HTC last year, people are looking forward to the new devices that could come from these two giants collaborating. The Pixel 3 is set to be unveiled at this year’s Mobile World Congress.

The device hopes to improve on the Pixel 2’s offering which, while decent, was already outdated within a few months after release. While Google certainly can afford to have their Pixel flop, it would be a shame to see the company’s dreams unrealised.

The Pixel 3 has been kept quite under wraps but we can expect the same ridiculously good camera quality we saw in the Pixel 2 along with a hopefully better designed screen.

The codenames for 3 new devices from Google has been leaked namely Crosshatch, Albacore and Blueline but so far it is unclear what their stats are.

The Mysterious Huawei P20

While rumours abound that it won’t appear at the Mobile World Congress this year, the Hauwei P20 looks to be released more to the middle of the year.

While like most other devices on this list no official states have been released, there have been rumours that the device will be set to have 3 separate cameras that could have up to 40mp in resolution each.

Insiders also suspect that the device will also be following the bezel less design of the iPhone X. While opinions differ over Apple devices it can’t be argued against that the launch of the iPhone X has cast a long shadow and Apple still remains a trendsetter in the mobile space.

The Much Anticipated Nokia 9

Nokia will be unveiling a host of new smart devices at this year’s MWC. Most notable is the budget handset, the Nokia 1 which will be running the custom Android Go operating system specifically optimised for lower end devices, but Nokia will also be revealing their Nokia 4, 7 and flagship device the Nokia 9.

Details have been few and far between but the Snapdragon 212 processor seems to be at the heart of the higher end devices currently.

Recent rumours may have revealed the stats of the Nokia 9 early after FCC documents emerged from the US where a patent was registered for the device with less than stellar features which are not much better than can be seen in current devices.

The Premium Sony Xperia XZ1

Leaked information suggests that Sony will be unveiling a new set of killer devices including the rumoured premium XZ1 device.

The rumoured stats for the device claim it will have  Snapdragon 845 processor, 6GB of ram and a 128GB hard drive.

An up to 13 megapixel camera and fingerprint scanner sensors puts this device on the same playing field as the iPhoneX and as with all Sony’s Smartphones it will come with eye catching design and understated elegance.
